Holly Hunter is a well-known American actor, producer, and director. The actress has received praise for her roles in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. The movie Piano has won several awards for her which included an Oscar. Her acting career started with Broadway by performing in a range of Broadway as well as Off Broadway assignments. Awed by acting since school days she played Helen Keller in a play in fifth grade. The mumps that she contracted left her deaf and blind in one ear. However, she did not allow this to stop her from becoming an actor. While in college, she took classes in theatre and later moved in New York City in pursuit of her goal. After a casual encounter, she was stuck in an elevator and met writer Beth Henley and the two worked together on the Broadway Crimes of the Heart the play that would become Hunter's debut. In the years following her move from Los Angeles she tried to get film roles and bagged a supporting role as a character Swing Shift. Since then, she's appeared in many television series and movies over over three decades. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame actress and was awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award.
